Michels Power has been recognized by Engineering-News Record (ENR) for our safe, high-quality work on the Carlson Creek Switchyard project.
Carlson Creek Switchyard, an essential component of Indiana’s electrical infrastructure, received an Award of Merit in the Energy/Industrial category as part of ENR Midwest’s 2024 Regional Best Projects.
Michels constructed the new 345kv switchyard and gen-tie span, including installation of all civil construction, foundations and major equipment. The project was judged on the following criteria: overcoming challenges and teamwork, safety, innovation and contribution to the industry/community, and design and construction quality.
The state-of-the-art switchyard serves as a hub for power transmission, distribution and control while also supporting the integration of renewable energy and ensuring the reliability and safety of the grid.
