Congratulations to Craig Vandaelle, Vice President, Preconstruction Services, Micon Group, for receiving the 2023 Chair Award for Distinguished Service to the North American Society for Trenchless Technology. He was selected for the 2023 award by current NASTT Chair Matthew Wallin, P.E., and Past Chair Alan Goodman.
Craig has a long history of involvement with NASTT, including serving as Chair of the Board of Directors in 2019. During his tenure, he guided the organization through the new normal of life during and after the COVID-19 outbreak.
“Craig’s leadership was pivotal in guiding NASTT through our first year without a No-Dig Show in three decades,” Matthew said. “By keeping the Board focused on finding innovative ways to continue our mission of trenchless education, while protecting our financial foundation, Craig led us through those uncharted and difficult seas. Through the end of his chair term, and continuing as a strong Immediate Past Chair, Craig has helped forge an improved NASTT that is in a very strong and exciting position to continue as the premier organization for trenchless professionals.”
Craig is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable advocate for the trenchless construction industry and the benefits of Early Contractor Involvement and Alternative Delivery contract models. His extensive expertise includes design, inspection, construction, and construction management of trenchless construction and rehabilitation projects.
“The future of the trenchless construction industry is being forged by the people who are planning, leading and performing the work today,” said Matt Smith, President, Michels Trenchless, Inc. “With Craig and leaders like him driving the industry, the possibilities are endless.”
The award was presented during the No-Dig Show in Portland, OR.
