A pair of professionals from the Michels Family of Companies are among the contributors to a publication focused on horizontal directional drilling (HDD).
Luke Bever, P.E., a Project Manager with J.D. Hair & Associates, Inc. (JDH&A), and Tim McGuire, a Senior Advisor with Michels, collaborated on the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Manual of Practice (MOP) 108, Pipeline Design for Installation by Horizontal Directional Drilling.
This is the third edition of the MOP, a resource published by ASCE to present in-depth technical information and applications of the described methods and technologies. MOPs are generally upheld as the basis for relevant industry standards and prevailing practices.
Luke served as a committee chairman for the ASCE publication and assisted in presenting its unveiling at the Utility Engineering & Surveying Institute’s annual ASCE Pipelines Conference in late July.
Tim has contributed to all three editions of the HDD MOP and articles in other publications, including Trenchless Technology and World Pipelines magazines. He has been fundamental in Michels’ accession as a global leader in HDD.
JDH&A’s founder, John D. Hair, P.E., was also pivotal in the creation of the first two editions of the MOP. The third edition will be available in early 2025.
Collaborating on such publications further cements JDH&A’s position as an industry leader in the trenchless engineering space and Michels’ expertise as providers of world-class trenchless construction solutions.
