Collaboration yields strong Construction Management degree program

Our ongoing support of Marian University’s new Construction Management program opens doors for students interested in construction-related careers and cultivates a skilled workforce for our industry.

In 2022, the private university in Fond du Lac, WI sought our expertise when exploring a path of study for students interested in pursuing construction careers. In addition to providing guidance at the earliest stages of the initiative, Michels people have assisted with the development of the program, helping to screen candidates for the Construction Management Program Director role, and contributing guest lecturers to cover such topics as horizontal infrastructure and utility construction trenchless technologies, alternative delivery contract concepts, estimating perspectives, internship and summer job opportunities, and more.

Graduates of the program are well-equipped for careers as project managers, superintendents, estimators and other lead construction roles. The Construction Management program was offered as a minor in 2023 and due to growing interest has already evolved into a major as of the fall 2024 semester.

Additional support for the Construction Management program includes tours of Michels’ yards in Brownsville to expose students to specific pieces of construction equipment as well as donations of lasers, levels and other tools to the university.

“Michels has been very generous to Marian University’s Construction Management program, providing excellent guest lecturers, donating construction instruments, opening their doors to field trip opportunities and even serving on our Advisory Board,” said Dr. Daniel Enz, Program Director for Construction Management at Marian University. “I am very grateful for Michels Corporation and their support.”

This collaboration benefits both local students and the Michels Family of Companies in the form of internship opportunities and the possibility of full-time positions for graduates of the program. As with the other programs we support around the United States, it also helps the future of the industry.
