Congratulations to Tim Schmitt, Director of HSE, Michels Energy Group, Inc., for being recognized as the 2023 Safety Director of the Year by the Distribution Contractors Association (DCA).
Tim played an instrumental role in developing and implementing our Preventable Motor Vehicle Incident (MVI) Accountability Plan, which details the response and communication expectations following preventable MVIs. Under this program, Michels Utility Services, Inc. experienced a 48 percent decrease in all auto incident occurrences and a 56 percent decrease in preventable MVIs.
Through Tim and his team’s efforts, Michels Utility Services has won the DCA Arthur T. Everham Safety Award for the past three years. Beyond his safety accomplishments at Michels, Tim participates in several industry organizations, including the DCA Safety Congress and INGAA’s Pipeline Construction Safety Roundtable.
Tim’s tenacity and passion for safety permeates our HSE team and continues a tradition of DCA recognition. Nate Healy, Senior Director of HSE, Michels Energy Group, received the award in 2020, and Joe Searl, Senior Director of HSE, Micon Group, Inc., received it in 2022.
