Members of the Michels Family of Companies recently shared an honor, receiving a pair of awards celebrating our exemplary safety records.
The energy infrastructure companies of Michels Energy Group, Inc. and the civil and marine construction companies of Micon Group, Inc. were recognized for strong jobsite safety by the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) Mid-Atlantic and its affiliated Laborers-Employers Cooperation and Education Trust (LECET) fund.
Mid-Atlantic LECET/LIUNA reviewed award nominees’ safety records and Experience Modification Rates (EMR) from the prior year, comparing the number of employees, the number of hours worked and the number and severity of on-the-job accidents.
“Since safety is the cornerstone of our culture, we are especially pleased that our safety efforts and their results are recognized,” said Pat Michels, President and CEO. “We are driven to focus on the health, safety, and social well-being of our people and those who partner with us. Awards like this are an opportunity to thank everyone who shares our commitment to incorporate safety into all we do.”
The two Michels groups, along with 14 other Workforce Safety Award winners, were honored at LIUNA headquarters in Washington D.C. This is the second year LECET/LIUNA has sponsored the safety awards.
