James River Direct Pipe®
Michels Trenchless, Inc. used Direct Pipe® methodology to install 2,075 feet of 42-inch steel pipeline. The work was completed in a remote part of Texas with temperatures reaching well above 100 degrees.
The project is part of a natural gas pipeline intend to bring more natural gas to market and reduce Permian Basin natural gas flaring.
Due to the karst geology present at the site, Direct Pipe® was chosen as the most feasible method of trenchless construction. Since Direct Pipe® installs the pipeline immediately upon borehole creation with controlled flows and pressures, fluid migration is greatly mitigated, making it a more favorable candidate to execute the crossing than other trenchless solutions.
