Continuing Michels’ commitment to being actively involved in the industries we serve, JR Ramthun, Senior Vice President – Highways, Michels Road & Stone, Inc., has been appointed president of the Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association (WTBA). JR has nearly 40 years of experience at Michels and in the road and highway construction industry, working in field, management and executive roles. He has also been part of the WTBA Board of Directors for more than 12 years.
The WTBA and its members provide a forward-focused vision on the development of Wisconsin’s transportation system. The WTBA consists of specialty contractors performing work in areas at the heart of Michels Road & Stone’s service offerings: aggregate production and placement, asphalt paving, bridge building, concrete paving and earth moving.
As President, JR will set the association’s overall goals, priorities and vision. During his speech at the annual convention last month, JR set four specific goals for WTBA: Increase transportation funding thru the state budget process, increase WTBA memberships by at least 10%, passing a utility reform bill to take risk away from the contractor, and improve the industry’s relationship with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
The president’s term is one calendar year, culminating with WTBA’s Annual Convention each February. After his term as president concludes, JR will continue to serve on the board as past president for an additional year.
