Huntley to Wilmarth Transmission Line
Michels Power, Inc. built 52 miles of 345kV transmission line to reduce congestion on the transmission grid in southern Minnesota and northern Iowa.
A new double-circuit Dove T2 556 bundle conductor was installed for the first 22 miles. The remaining 30 was a single-circuit line. The entire project included installation of two new OPGW circuits. Steel single-pole structures were used in most areas. Two- and three-pole structures were used as needed.
The project will deliver low-cost electricity from generation facilities, including wind farms, to consumers.
