Matthew Westphal, Senior Vice President of Pipeline Operations, has been elected to the Pipe Line Contractors Association (PLCA) Board of Directors. Matt joins 12 other representatives of the United States oil and gas pipeline construction industry on the board.
Michels is an ardent supporter of the PLCA and its mission of negotiating labor agreements and encouraging safe practices. Like Michels, the PLCA also works on the continuous advancement of safety, quality, training, and recruitment.
Actively participating in the PLCA and other organizations is an important way for Michels to help lead best practices in the industries in which we work.
“Contractors share a common goal of serving our customers and the public with safe, reliable, environmentally sound energy infrastructure,” Matt said. “By working together for the advancement of the industry, we are best able to keep moving forward into the future.”
Michels has a continuous tradition of participation in the PLCA. Matt’s father, the late Robert Westphal, who retired after more than 50 years at Michels, served on the board of directors for 13 years, was president in 2005, and named an honorary PLCA member in 2018. Bob Osborn, Senior Group Vice President of Energy, followed Bob Westphal onto the board, serving as president in 2017 and recently ending his tenure.
