Line 3 Replacement
Michels Pipeline, Inc. was awarded construction of 109 miles of 36-inch pipeline and six mainline valve facilities, completed mostly during harsh winter conditions.
The Line 3 project started in Canada and concluded in the United States, crossing native lands and receiving political opposition. Michels Pipeline proactively addressed these unique elements through early and consistent engagement with Native people, local community members, and labor unions.
In Native communities, we conducted job fairs to engage Native American contractors and worked to address concerns, including preservation of historically sensitive sites.
The Line 3 Replacement Project was designed to replace a crude oil line built in the 1960s from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to Superior, WI. The new liquid line has increased safety and reliability functions and requires less maintenance than the historic line.
