One of the more challenging aspects of project work is our people working in remote areas away from their home, their loved ones and their friends. The Grande Prairie and surrounding areas in Alberta have become one of our homes away from home. To show our appreciation to the community and to help families in need, Michels Canada and our crew members working on the Deep Valley North Pipeline in donated $40,000 to the Wellspring Family Resource & Crisis Centre.
Wellspring provides free services and safe, secure, short-term accommodations to women in crisis. Wellspring is located in Whitecourt, not far from the project in northern Alberta.
The Deep Valley North Pipeline is Michels Canada’s first 48-inch diameter pipeline project. A component of TC Energy’s ongoing NGTL Expansion Program, the project is approximately 43km (27 miles) of 48-inch diameter pipeline entirely on crownland. The project’s location is approximately 90 minutes away from the nearest highway on radio-controlled logging roads and quite remote thus requiring the 700-plus person workforce to be housed in three large temporary camp sites.
Michels Canada’s construction team is executing the project over two seasons. Season 1 was February to April 2021. Season 2 will start in October and end in the spring of 2022.
