Ford Ridge Wind Farm
Michels Power, Inc. engineered, procured and constructed nearly all scopes of electrical work except for up-tower cable on a wind farm to convert corn and bean fields into a renewable energy source. The 121.6MW project consisted of 43 2.82MW wind turbine generators, a new 34.5/138kV substation, seven miles of 138kV transmission line, 28 miles of 34.5kV underground collection system, and conduit, grounding and 2kV cable for the turbines.
Michels Power, Inc. designed a bolt template to install turbine conduits. The steel template was designed to attach to the pedestal anchor bolts and help guide the crew’s installation of the eight 4-inch conduits installed from the top of the pedestal into the turbine vault and encased in concrete.
