Autumn Hills RNG Facility

Michels Pipeline, Inc. installed a 3,000-SCFM, high-BTU landfill gas (LFG) processing plant to transform raw landfill gas into pipeline quality renewable natural gas. Members of the Michels Family of Companies came together to construct all aspects of this facility, including concrete, structural steel, piping, mechanical equipment, electrical components, civil and site work, as well as an on-site precast concrete building for facility operations staff.

Michels sourced materials locally when possible and communicated with the community to ensure a safe execution of tie-ins. This included inviting the local fire department on-site for orientation and education before the crew performed work with a higher possibility for safety risks.

The renewable energy will be used to power nearby Zeeland Farm Services, replacing the landfill gas that had been used for decades. Additional RNG will be distributed to customers by SEMCO Energy.
