Despite the vast variety of construction solutions we provide, sometimes a single type of project can sum up so much about Michels.
Battery energy storage systems (BESS) are simple in concept: electricity is collected, set aside and made available when it is needed most, such as during a power outage. This technology strengthens the grid, sometimes operating as backups for existing networks and, in other instances, functioning independently as resilient, decentralized microgrids.
Here are a few reasons why Michels is such a good fit for BESS projects:
Renewable Energy — Energy transition and renewables is one of our key industries. Many of our BESS projects tie into solar energy, supplying power at night when solar panels cannot collect energy.
Self-performed — While the scale of a BESS can vary from project to project, Michels can self-perform the majority of the scope, from foundations to battery installation to facilities to underground collection, communication and transmission lines.
Collaboration — Our considerable breadth of capabilities is possible because of the Michels Family of Companies, a collection of wholly owned infrastructure and energy companies providing contracting solutions under a single Michels brand flagship.
Michels Power, Inc.; Michels Pacific Energy, Inc.; and Michels Underground Cable have contributed to past and present BESS projects. Four such projects across the U.S. are on track to wrap up before the end of the year with more on the horizon. Given our strong track record and the powerful relationships we have built with our customers, we expect to continue to play a critical role in delivering these crucial systems for years to come.
Simply put, BESS is a prime example of We Do That … & More.
