Program connects high school students to the construction industry

Michels, working alongside other industry partners, has helped to build a program for local Wisconsin students interested in exploring careers in construction. The Architecture-Construction-Engineering (ACE) Academy constitutes a major collaboration between construction and education, preparing high school students for these interrelated fields by integrating core curriculum courses and key technical classes.

We have supported the ACE Academy since its inception in 2018. Our contributions of committee involvement, student interaction and instruction, and equipment, supply and monetary donations have helped prepare students to transition from school to the workforce.

Earlier this month, a Michels employee and ACE committee member participated in an open house to introduce students and their parents to the program at Fond du Lac High School, one of seven ACE Academy installations throughout the state.

Supported by the Associated General Contractors of Wisconsin, the ACE Academy positions students to pursue employment opportunities in the construction industry by providing them a path to apprenticeships and continuing education programs at technical colleges and universities.
