As an energy and infrastructure contractor, building solutions to improve lives in our communities is something we do every day. We recently put that claim to the test when more than 150 of our people worked together to assemble bikes to donate to local kids.
The activity was part of a two-day summit attended by representatives of the Michels Family of Companies to share information, build collaborative relationships, and plan for future opportunities.
The bike-building activity supports our core values of social responsibility and teamwork. The 28 bikes will be donated to a child with a match or on the waiting list in Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County.
Because safety is the cornerstone of our culture, we made sure the activity also aligns with that core value. The national Big Brothers Big Sisters organization has made online bike safety training a requirement for all participating families in 2023. To be eligible for the bike, parents must complete the online training and write a statement about the impact of Big Brothers Big Sisters on their family. The child needs to draw a picture or write a short note expressing their need or appreciation for a new bike.
Thanks to everyone who participated! We hope the kids who receive our bikes have as much fun riding them as we did assembling them.
